A 27 year-year-old young techie died in a tragic mishap on the intervening night of 16 and 17 January in Delhi - National Capital Region (NCR), Noida.

The incident occurred owing to thick winter fog that led to Yuvraj Mehta’s car fell into a deep abandoned pit, filled with stagnant water.

According to eyewitnesses and victim’s father, Mehta called up his father on his phone to seek help and said “Papa I don’t want to die”. Mehta kept on shouting for help by lighting his torch in his phone for almost 90 minutes.

Despite, the Police and Fire Brigade Authorities present at the mishap site, none of the government officials had courage to enter into the pit fearing injury from possible iron beams and cold water.

Delivery Boy Threatened by Local Police for trying to Save Mehta

In India, the Police is not only cruel but also inhuman.

A delivery boy – Moninder was at work that night, decided to stop at the accident scene and promptly swam into the pit filled with cold water to save Mehta.

Despite efforts put in by Moninder, sadly the victim could not be saved as his body in a matter of around 10 minutes had already drowned deep into the pit.

Mehta died immediately after his body sank into the water due to mud filled in his mouth and cardiac arrest.

The Police in an attempt to save their job and shield themselves from alleged dereliction of duty tried to shut the delivery boy’s mouth.

Delivery boy alleged that “The Police intimidated him to not speak to the media and advised him to go underground for few days by giving justification of life was already lost and now nothing could be done and citing short memory of people who usually forget such mishaps with time.
Delivery boy was intimidated to an extent for giving false and contradictory verbal statement through a video with an intent to save the authorities present at the accident scene, while the mishap occurred."

It is also alleged that the accident spot was prone to such accidents due to absence of any sign board and owing to a sharp turn.

Blame game has begun among the authorities, somehow trying to wriggle out of the situation.

Human Life has no value in India

Now that Mehta is no more, it will not matter to anyone except his father.

Even if the government officials are condemned or transferred owing to the alleged negligence and dereliction of duty after conclusion will be drawn subject to the investigation report, Mehta’s life is lost forever.

Like many such similar incidents occurred in the past, the authorities will never learn from its mistakes, but the untimely and sad demise of a young boy will continue to haunt the errant and cruel government officials in the present and their next life.
